Solanas, most well known as the woman that shot Andy Warhol, is also the author of the SCUM Manifesto. Through archival research and narrative performance, this work seeks to mark and recognize the shifting feminist subjectivity of Solanas from the shooting of Warhol to the present.
This work also examines a case in which Solanas literally rewrote a previous edition of SCUM Manifesto, and the reclamation of textual agency that this process marks. Theoretically, this work is situated in feminist poststructuralist rhetoric and radical contextualization that aims to frame Solanass SCUM as a satirical activist text. The result of this work is a more focused understanding about the construction of an activist feminist subjectivity.
